FootballsWhat exactly is this market; well simply put you get hired to provide entertainment for guests at a party or event.  Maybe you’ve gone to a wedding where the bride and groom have hired a caterer, a Music DJ, photographer etc… Maybe they also rented a Photo Booth to print those fun little photo strips for each guest.  Or maybe you’ve been to a themed birthday party where they’ve rented bounce houses, pony rides, party hats, plates, cups and toys for all the kids. If you’ve ever been to a Bar Mitzvah party you know what I’m talking about. Mitzvahs could reach in the thousands of dollars for each one.  This is the market I’m talking about.

For our business there are some specific “Events” that your photo sports ball business is a perfect fit.  Themed birthday parties, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Corporate Events like sales meetings, Sporting events like the All Star Game or March Madness the list goes on and on.

There are a few things to take into account when considering entering this market such as making sure you have productive equipment and efficient processes; that you have good marketing and signage before and during the event; and then pricing.  Let’s discuss the pricing for a minute.  You have to regard on-site events the same as doing wholesale production.  You don’t charge someone purchasing 1 ball the same price as you would 100 balls. Generally you would give the person purchasing 100 balls some sort of price break or wholesale pricing.  So base the overall cost of doing an on-site event off your wholesale pricing. This is the easiest way to establish you’re pricing for this market.

To go a little further with this, let’s say you can produce 33 balls an hour. So in three hours you can produce about 100 balls.  To price this out you would take your typical wholesale price per ball and times it by 100 balls.  For example, let’s say you charge a wholesale price of $15 per baseball.  A hundred baseballs would be $1,500.  Typically event planners will already have the theme established and will be hiring your service for a specific length of time or for a specific number of guests.  Either way, with the example above you have established an hourly price of $500 or $15 per guest for On-site baseballs.  This is the price event planners will be looking for when considering this service.

It’s also acceptable to require half or even the full payment up front at the time they book your services.

Just remember you are entertaining their guests, so make the process fun and relaxing.  Take things for the guest to wear like NY Yankee hats, bats, jerseys etc…
